Animation Time! - Simple Bot



Today's Inspiration:

“I don’t want you to forget that creativeness, imagination, fantasy have to stay with you. You must stay pepped up on your work- you can’t get along a system alone. The first thing we come up against is sincerity and honesty by which I mean if a thing looks sincere
on the screen, it looks as though it would really work, as though it would really work, as though it existed,…..as though gravity held it down. It looks plausible, feels logical….caricature or exaggeration in drawing is very important.   The public never pays for a good drawing. It pays for an exaggerated effect. By caricature I don’t always mean funny  drawing. If you are going to make a fellow lean over, make him lean over plenty. Go twice as far as you think you can in the drawing and you will always be about right. Make the character do everything he does in a decisive, definite way so that the audience will know what he’s doing. The drawing should be direct, definite, and simple. That means again you must have a clear idea of what you are after because it is hard to make a simple drawing. Harder than to make a jumpled-up drawing
with all the details on it.”

Joe Walk - Walk a Day

Today's Walk is a Joe Walk.
Head - overlaps and drags from the movement of the chest, light up and dip down
Chest - open to camera, light twist and compress
Hips - rotate to offset the chest, light circular motion, pushes forward, dips down, pulls back, and then up, twists to allow for the next leg push
Legs - left leg planted down and forward, right lifts off the board, steps down and pushes off the ground
Feet - left foot planted, right foot drags off the board, hits the ground with a little heel flop, peels back off, and lifts up back onto the board
Arms - left arm held out and to the side in front of the body with a little sway side to side, right arm dangles back with a light swing
Hands - left hand spreads and swings out side to side with overlap and drag on the fingers, right hand drags overlapping the movement of the arm and forearm extending into the fingers and thumb

Jin Walk - Walk a Day

Today's Walk is a Jin Walk.
Head - hung down, light tilt upward
Chest - light hunch, slight tilt and compress side to side
Hips - rotate to offset the chest and allow for the next step, light swing side to side
Legs - low small steps
Feet - rotated inward, drag back on the passing position land with a little toe flop
Arms - left arm hangs down with a little swing, right arm bent, cupping the left arm
Hands - left hand overlaps and drag from the sway of the arm and forearm extending into the fingers and thumb, right hand holds the left arm, light sway and drag

Animation Time! - Jin Rig



Today's Inspiration:
wherever I go I try to have pencil and paper handy.

For me it’s always been about art. So, my master plan is just “A-B-C” … Always Be Creating.

We made a really cool art style here that is in my opinion, similar to some of the
old Disney movies where it may not be the highest technical quality or its not
pushing the most polygons but it’s just a fun style, you know? Mickey Mouse is still
popular around the world and he’s not the most technically evolved character around.
Characters like Popeye are still around. Characters like Scooby Doo …
if you just make something that’s cool and people enjoy playing it, that’s the first thing right?
And if you can make an art style that can still hold up over the years…
